About CLM

Glorifying God by working with excellence toward transformation in the lives of children, adolescents, and their families.

– CLM’s Mission Statement

Canaan Land Ministries (CLM) is a Christ-centered social outreach to the abused and abandoned children of Southern Brazil.  CLM is directly governed by the Apostolic Christian Church Missionary Committee and funded through the Apostolic Christian Church Foundation.

CLM is comprised of two children’s homes, CLM Entre Rios and CLM Turvo, as well as CLM Plus – a support program to assist young adults who grew up at CLM as they transition into independent living.  The children’s homes have a capacity for up to 40 children, with 20 children permitted by law at any one location.

CLM is staffed by both Brazilian nationals as well as citizens of other countries.   Currently, the Board of Directors is comprised of all Brazilians, the Administrators under them are American Brazilian, and all the caregivers and other employees are Brazilian.

Children are placed at CLM through the government, whose goal is to either return them to an improved family situation home or place them in another family (extended family, foster care or adoption) within six months to two years.  This is also CLM’s desire;  however, it is not always possible.  The children who stay at CLM long term are transitioned into independence through the CLM Plus program.  CLM Plus helps these teens and young adults to find jobs and provides financial support as they pursue higher education.
